Hi there! My name is KERRU.
I make art. Everything bold and funky and oversaturated- I love. I adore colour so you’re going to find lots and lots of that in my work.
I often find that I am too many things- queer, deaf, asian, born a girl. And it is no secret that Singapore is an extremely conservative society. Many issues are taboo and are easily glossed over by a privileged majority, so my work tends to investigate the ‘why’s - questioning how certain social conventions came to be and how they impact various groups of people, particularly the marginalised.
Admittedly, this shop tends to focus on the aspects of my work that are more retinally pleasing (because who wants to hang a slab of tofu on their wall?) I started selling prints to fund my way through uni education, and all support is very much appreciated!
